I plan on keeping no more than 8 doe kids in 2009. I plan on keeping ones marked "first doe kid retained", but may not on ones marked with "?", due to my limits. Once again, I will be selling all doe kids from first fresheners, except possible one in March, as I need a March doe for my show string. I have some VERY promising yearlings and kids, so some real bargains could be had.

Prices for kids reserved prior to birth will not be higher than the listed price. Prices on kids are subject to change, based on a current evaluation of the kid and its parents. All doe kids and pre-reserved buck kids are raised on a strict CAE prevention program. I plan on again bottle raising ALL kids, as I found dam-raising did not save enough time to compensate for heathen kids running amok (in the mild, harmless sense).
I do not take deposits before kids are born and I always have
first option to retain a kid. I usually keep 6-9 doelings a year, so I may keep
some I have not marked as such, depending on who has what. My "first option" ends once I accept a deposit;
the kid is that person's to buy. I know a number of people who have been
disappointed when a breeder has a change of mind, decides to retain a kid, and
returns the deposit. I will not do that. If, however, something about the kid
changes which makes me feel it is no longer suitable, I will contact the buyer,
who has the option of purchasing the kid anyway, transferring the deposit to
another kid, or having it returned.
I keep a list with people's contact information and their preference of kid.
Within a couple of days of a suitable "reserved" kid being born, I contact the
first person on the list. They have 48 hours to let me know if they are still
interested and to PayPal or mail a $50 deposit. If the first person is not
interested, I go on down the list. The deposit will hold the kid until weaning
or other mutually acceptable time. As soon as someone agrees to buy the kid, if
I decide to retain the kid, or if no suitable kid is born, I let everyone else
on the list know.
